Developer Cloud Platform
A developer cloud that deploys apps from Git onto Kubernetes, with databases, storage, email, logs and traces built in. As a freelance Go engineer I built its GitLab connection, made builds reuse code they had already downloaded, and added tracing and security tests.
What I built
- Built the GitLab connection end to end: signing in with GitLab, storing the connection, and keeping access tokens encrypted in Vault and refreshed before they expire. The team later added other Git providers on the same design.
- Made builds reuse a repo they had already cloned instead of downloading it every time. Each repo is locked while in use, reset to exactly the right commit, and re-cloned automatically if the cached copy breaks.
- Added an API that lists each service's traces, backed by OpenObserve.
- Wrote about 1,200 lines of tests for sign-in and permissions, and made the API's error handling sturdier.
- Fixed bugs in onboarding, invites, templates and the audit log's paging.
